With Mahidol University since 2003, Sooksan Kantabutra has been researching for ways to ensure organizational sustainability. Prior to this, he was a consultant for a global consulting firm, advising clients from a whole range of industries on leadership and change. His contributions to the pre-dominantly empirical field of sustainable development include four proposed theories: theory of organizational vision, theory of corporate sustainability, theory of organizational resilience, and theory of sustainability organizational culture. These internationally recognized theories are deeply rooted in King Rama IX of Thailand’s philosophy of Sufficiency Economy. Guiding the development of the field, his theories and their associated research have informed research studies and are classroom materials at leading universities around the world, including America’s Ivy League universities, the UK’s Russell Group universities and Australia’s Group of Eight universities, and policies and practices at key development organizations globally such as the OECD, WHO, UNDP, World Benchmarking Alliance (WBA) and the Stockholm Environment Institute. Given his contributions to the field, he has consistently been identified by other scholars in their reports among the top in the global sustainable development field. Kantabutra has also been included in the lists of Stanford University’s World’s Top 2% Scientists and ScholarGPS™ Top 0.05% Scholars. His research interests include sustainable leadership, sustainable enterprise, sustainability organizational culture, sustainable social enterprise, organizational resilience and theory building. He has successfully supervised doctoral students in these areas.
