Abstract

The objective of operations management is to manage activities involved in producing products and delivering services to deliver the highest value customers. Lean, which is considered one of the most effective operations management methodologies for the improvement of the operations process by eliminating waste, was evident in the process. However, lean has been widely adopted in the manufacturing sector. To broaden the application of lean, this article aims to explore how lean can be adopted in healthcare services efficiently and successfully. A case study method is employed to understand how lean can be applied in the case study hospital. The operations processes were analyzed by applying the lean concept to help identify waste and proposals for application in the case study organization are presented.
