Abstract

This study aims to understand succession process of micro family business in Thailand and identify the critical factors that affect succession process in micro family businesses toward high post-transition performance. The literature review was used to identify critical factors affecting succession process and the relationships with business performance. In-depth interviews and case study analysis were conducted to validate the identified factors. Succession experiences of selected four successors of micro family business indicated that successors' perspective and ability to break the mould and create the innovation to family business are the factors that are important to make a successful transition with high post-transition performance.
