When the significant changes from internal and/or external factors of an organization occur, it may impact the organizational strategies and the technology roadmap accordingly. Therefore, it is important for an organization manager to understand the current status of the technology roadmap. The current status indicates whether it is necessary to update the roadmap along with the changing situations. The challenge is how could an organization know when is the proper time to update the roadmap. As such, the processes to determine the impacts of changes either from external or internal factors on the technology roadmap are highly important. To address the challenge, this paper suggests the conceptual framework which can be used to determine the current status of a technology roadmap by evaluating the impacts of changes (from both internal and external factors) on the technology roadmap. The roadmap status signal which obtained from the suggested framework helps management in identifying whether their roadmap is still usable or needs to be updated to align with the changing situation.
