Dr. Kantabutra's Latest International Journal Publication on Strategic Vision

on .

A new research report, entitled Developing Vision Statements That Work, by Asst. Prof. Dr. Sooksan Kantabutra and Professor Gayle C. Avery of the Macquarie Graduate School of Management has been accepted for publication by Journal of Business Strategy, an Emerald journal.

While strategic vision has been emphasized by both management authors and consultants as critical to superior business performance, no one really knows how a powerful vision looks like.  Yet, organizations around the world willingly keep on spending to develop their visions on a trial-and-error basis.  In their report, Dr. Kantabutra and Professor Avery discuss findings of their groundbreaking studies in American, Australian and Thai businesses, which include some of Fortune 100 companies.  The findings reveal for the first time that powerful visions are characterized by brevity, clarity, abstractness, stability, future orientation, challenge and desirability or ability to inspire across the three cultures.  They also give examples of powerful vision statements and discuss how one can develop such a vision statement.

Dr. Kantabutra is the developer of Kantabutra's theory of organizational vision which is recognized internationally.  This vision theory is indeed one of a few management theories, if any, formulated by a Thai scholar.  CMMU students have had the privilege to study and apply this vision theory before anyone else since 2003.

Porter and Philip KotlerAccording to the journal, every issue has a mix of articles from top business school thinkers, consultants, policy-makers and business executives.
