Dr. Nareerat Taechapiroontong, Ph.D., CMMU Faculty and Acting Financial Management Program Chair has presented her paper entitled "The Effectiveness of Trading Halts and Investor Trading Performance: An Intraday Analysis on the Stock Exchange of Thailand" co-authored with Dr. Charlie Charoenwong and Dr. Chiraphol New Chiyachantana at the 2009 17th Annual Professor Sangvien Indaravijaya Conference on Thailand's Financial Market at Thammasat University on November 27, 2009.

The paper examines the effectiveness of trading halts using trade-by-trade data provided by the Stock Exchange of Thailand between January 1999 and December 2007. The results suggest that trading halts are efficient in maintaining stability and an orderly trading in the market. The evidence also reveals that domestic investors trade at better prices than foreign investors around trading halts periods. Retails follow contrarian trading strategy by buying low and selling high.
