CMMU Sustainable Leadership Research at 2010 IFSAM World Congress in Paris, France

on .

Three CMMU research reports on Sustainable Leadership have been presented and published in conference proceedings at the 2010 Annual Conference of the International Federation of Scholarly Associations of Management (IFSAM) or 2010 IFSAM World Congress in Paris, France on July 8, 2010.

Adopting Avery (2005)'s model of Sustainable Leadership, four members of Mahidol University's Leadership Research Group (LRG), based at CMMU, have investigated leadership practices of successful business enterprises in Thailand to determine if the Western derived model fits business conditions in Thailand's developing economy.  Findings reveal some important managerial implications for business leaders who want to sustain their organizational success in that context.  The four LRG members are Assistant Professor Dr. Sooksan Kantabutra, Assistant Professor Dr. Vichita Ractham, Dr. Pornkasem Kantamara and Suparak Suriyankietkaew, a PhD student from the latest cohort.  Details of the three papers are below.

1. Kantabutra, S. & Suriyankietkaew, S.  Sustainable Leadership at a Thai Community Enterprise (Sa Paper Preservation House).
2. Kantabutra, S. & Ractham, V.V. Sustainable Leadership: An Asian Case of Nutritional Innovator (Tipco).
3. Kantabutra, S. & Kantamara, P. Sustainable Leadership: A Case of Convergence Lifestyle Enabler (TRUE Corporation).

In addition, a special presentation, entitled "A Royal Philosophy of Sufficiency Economy: A Thai Approach to Corporate Sustainability", has been delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Sooksan Kantabutra in its Creative Leadership Approaches session.  All CMMU presentation sessions were chaired by Professor Avery herself and generated much of discussion.

"I'm shocked to learn that there is this excellent research done in this part of the world (Thailand)."
