Two Million Baht to CMMU Leadership Research Group to Develop Sufficiency Economy Textbook to be Launched Internationally

on .

CMMU Leadership Research Group has received two million baht from the Crown Property Bureau to develop a research-based textbook tentatively entitled Sufficiency Economy: The Thai Approach to Sustainable Development.  To be launched worldwide, the textbook will be a joint effort of noted scholars in Thailand and overseas.

The objective of this textbook is to present King Bhumibol Adulyadej's philosophy of Sufficiency Economy to the world as an alternative development approach to the evidently failing approach seen in the USA and Europe.  It will draw heavily from a decade of research on the subject done at Thailand Research Fund and research at Institute for Sustainable Leadership based in Sydney, Australia.  Co-edited by Professor Gayle C. Avery and Professor Harald Bergsteiner who co-authored an internationally acclaimed book Sustainable Leadership: Honeybee and Locust Approaches, the Sufficiency Economy textbook will be the first textbook on the subject for economists and business professionals both in Thailand and overseas.

The textbook will contain concepts, implementation experiences and living cases from Thailand.  CMMU faculty members who will contribute chapters to this textbook are Associate Professor Dr. Sooksan Kantabutra, Dr. Pornkasem Kantamara, Dr. Molraudee Saratun and Dr. Parisa Rungruang.

CMMU Leadership Research Group has continuously conducted research on this subject since 2003.  So far, the Group has attracted over 15 million bath via grants, contracts and PhD scholarships from within Thailand and overseas to conduct research on sustainable leadership.  The success of the Leadership Research Group has indeed confirmed CMMU as a leading business school in Asia.
