Abstract
The chapter gives a short overview of historical developments in Thailand and describes the current economic, social, and political context. It provides an outline of HR practices and preferred leadership styles in the Thai business context. The main part of the chapter is devoted to an empirical study of trust between managers and subordinates in Thailand. Both, quantitative and qualitative data from questionnaires, interviews, dyad-level focus groups and a delphi panel are analyzed to identify antecedents and outcomes of trust between managers and subordinates in Thailand. Finally, potential implications for management practice in Thailand and suggestions for future research are presented.
