Title:
Marketing to the aging population

Brief synopsis of theme: The aging of the Earth’s population is a global phenomenon that is affecting businesses, governments, families and society in general. Papers to be presented will address the challenges and marketing strategies for effectively reaching older consumers. Topics to be covered will include the development, promotion and distribution of products and services to the aging marketplace, as well as ethical and social issues. The conference will provide a forum for presenting and discussing several challenges that are facing practitioners and policy makers. Presenters will be sought to develop and present papers in the following areas of interest to attendees:

Businesses
• New product development and product modifications for the aged
• Market segmentation of older consumers
• Effectiveness of promotion strategies for the older consumer market
• Digital marketing to aged consumers
• Retailing strategies
• The older consumer today and in the future
• New business opportunities
• Older adults as workers

Educators
• Consumer behavior of the aged
• Theories that explain behavior in later life
• Issues in researching older consumers
• Understanding changing in the aging cohorts
• Older consumer behaviors in different cultures

Policy makers/social workers/governments

• Social implications of an aging marketplace
• Issues of caregiving
• Family arrangements and housing issues
• Older consumers’ vulnerability and ethical business practices
• Empowerment of the aged (volunteering, adult education, etc.)
• Rights of older workers

The conference will run all day on May 24th. We have two distinguished keynote speakers joining us. write my essay Professor George Moschis, from Georgia State U. and also the director of the Consumer Life Course Studies Group (CLSG) at CMMU, and Professor Gary Davies, Tesco Professor at Manchester Business School.

All manuscripts must be typed as a Word document, single spaced with 2.5cm or one-inch margins using 12-point Times New Roman font. Manuscripts should not exceed 10 pages. All manuscripts must be submitted via e-mail to Assistant Professor Hyewook Jeong at the following address:

Papers will be sent out for double blind review. Upon acceptance, at least one author must attend and present their paper. One delegate can present up to two papers, if coauthor.



Conference Fee

The conference fee of $300 covers the conference dinners on May 23rd and 24th, and a city tour on May 25th. The first 20 delegates who register get two free nights accommodation, with breakfast, sponsored by KODIA. Rooms at SNU are roughly $150 per night.




The conference dinners are for all delegates on the evenings of May 23rd and 24th, and there is an optional
city tour of the famous Gangnam district on Sunday morning.
